Frequently asked
What clients ask us first.
The twelve questions that come up in almost every first call — answered here in advance. Honestly, including where the answer is inconvenient.
What does a website cost with you?
A company website starts at CHF 499, a web app or SaaS solution at CHF 999. Anything ongoing starts at CHF 79 a month — for running your website as much as for looking after your IT. Beyond that it depends on scope: five pages are a different matter from a platform with logins and billing. What drives the price is set out in full on the pricing page. It becomes binding after the free first call: you get a fixed price, and it holds.
Can it end up more expensive than the quote?
No. The quote is the final price. It only costs more if you extend the scope during the work — and even then we say so beforehand, not on the closing invoice.
Do I need a cookie banner?
It depends on what your site does and where your visitors are. If it stores nothing on their devices beyond what is technically necessary, you do not need one — and a site can certainly be built that way. As soon as analytics, advertising networks or embedded video come in, it looks different, especially for visitors from the EU. This site measures its reach with Google Analytics; that is stated in the privacy statement, along with how to switch it off. A banner is not a formality, it is the consequence of a decision — and that decision is yours, not your agency’s.
Where does my data sit?
With Infomaniak in Switzerland — website and database. For operations your data does not leave the country. No content delivery network, no analytics services, no fonts from third-party servers.
Will my website comply with data protection law?
We build it so that it does from the start: data minimisation at design time rather than repair afterwards. In practice that means no IP addresses in the form tables, no trackers, and a privacy statement that describes the actual state rather than a template. The background: eight years as a company data protection officer.
Can I edit the site myself later?
Not with a company website built this way — it deliberately has no admin area, because that makes it faster, safer and cheaper to maintain. Text changes are done for you by the operations service, usually the same day. If you want to write regularly yourself, we build an editing area; that is a decision made at the first call, not afterwards.
Can you take over an existing website?
Yes, including one somebody else built. The first step is a survey: what runs, what is outdated, where the risk sits. Then handover into operation, with backups and an emergency route.
How many languages can the site run in?
Up to four, each maintained equally — not one main language with half-finished translations. Two of our platforms run in German, English, French and Italian with the same body of text. A test makes sure no text exists in only one language.
What do you need from me?
Less than you think. For the first call: an idea of what the site should achieve. After that, images and company details, and feedback on the drafts. The copy is written together — you bring the expertise, we bring the wording.
What if I do not like the design?
Then we change it before a single line of code exists. The design on screen comes before the build — precisely so that this case stays cheap. Rebuilding costs hours at that stage and days after launch.
What does running the site cost after launch?
Running the site starts at CHF 79 a month. That covers hosting, security updates, backups and monitoring. Above that it depends on the size of the application — a company website is a fraction of a platform with a database and payments. The exact figure is in the quote, not in the small print.
What is the difference between a website and a web app?
A website shows content and receives enquiries. A web app lets people work with it: sign in, record, evaluate, pay. Rule of thumb: as soon as you are describing a spreadsheet that several people need at the same time, we are talking about a web app.
